Who we are

Parent Perspective is a perinatal counselling service based in Epworth, South Yorkshire, run by a qualified counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Sessions are held online via a secure video link.

This policy explains how we collect, use and look after your personal information when you use this website or our counselling services, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What information we collect

We only collect the information we need to respond to you and to provide our services. Depending on how you use the site, this may include:

Contact and enquiry forms - your name, email address, phone number (if you choose to give it) and the message you send us.
Booking requests - your name and contact details, plus any information you choose to share about what support you are looking for.
Newsletter signup - your name and email address.
Guide and resource downloads - your name and email address, so we can send you the guide you have requested.

If you become a counselling client, further information will be collected as part of your care. This is explained under "Confidentiality and counselling records" below.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

respond to your enquiries and booking requests
provide counselling services to you
send you guides or resources you have asked for
send you our newsletter, where you have signed up to receive it

We do not use your information for any other purpose without telling you first.

Our lawful bases

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:

Consent - when you sign up to the newsletter or request a download. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and every newsletter includes a way to unsubscribe.
Contract - when we process your details to arrange and provide counselling sessions you have booked, or to take steps before entering into that agreement.
Legitimate interests - when we respond to enquiries and keep basic records needed to run the practice, always balanced against your rights and expectations.
Legal obligation - where we must keep or share information to comply with the law.

Confidentiality and counselling records

Counselling is a confidential service. Records relating to counselling sessions are kept securely and are managed in line with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. What confidentiality means in practice, and its legal limits, is discussed with every client at the start of counselling and is set out in our Terms and Conditions.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Like most small businesses, we use trusted service providers to run this website and our communications, such as our website hosting provider and email or newsletter service providers. These providers process data on our behalf, only on our instructions, and are required to keep it secure.

We may also share information where the law requires it, for example in the safeguarding situations described in our Terms and Conditions.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it:

Enquiries that do not lead to counselling are deleted once no longer needed.
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Counselling records are retained securely for the period expected of BACP members and by our insurers, then securely destroyed.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Access - ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Rectification - ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
Erasure - ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances
Restriction - ask us to limit how we use your information
Portability - ask for your information in a format you can reuse
Objection - object to certain uses of your information, including direct marketing

Cookies

This website uses a small number of cookies to help it function properly and to give us basic, anonymous analytics about how the site is used. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if our services or the law change. The latest version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
